Automotive Car | Acura Crossover Coupe | It seems like not too long ago that we didn’t even know what a sports activity coupe was. Some of us are still unsure, but we have come to appreciate the strange dichotomy provided by our long-term BMW X6. It now appears that Acura wants in on the coupe-UV action, as evidenced by these spy photos recently shot at Germany’s Nürburgring.
Although it looks like a tall wagon with its tent-like camouflage, a wave in the covering likely highlights where the vehicle’s real roof begins to slope downward.

A partially visible upper windowline gives an additional idea as to where the roof is actually going. The taillights also appear to follow the same angle. As to the mystery vehicle’s identity, there’s no mistaking the oft-reviled, beak-ish Acura grille up front.
Power could come from a recently confirmed and as-yet-homeless V-8, which will be the first eight-pot for parent company Honda.
Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive would surely make an appearance, giving fight to the X6’s main party piece, a trick torque-vectoring rear differential. The MDX could serve as the basis for this new crossover, just as the BMW X5’s mechanicals underpin the X6. One thing we wouldn’t like Acura to copy from the X6: four-place seating.
Judging by the somewhat-finished look of this test vehicle, we may at least see a concept version of this new offering at an upcoming auto show, perhaps as early as next month’s Los Angeles auto show.
